Flake Epoxy Floors For West Texas
Multi-chip flake epoxy systems with built-in slip resistance and visual texture. The Permian Basin garage standard. Durable, easy to maintain, and available in dozens of color blends to match any aesthetic.
What Is Flake Epoxy?
Flake epoxy is the most popular residential and light-commercial coating system in West Texas, and for good reason. Vinyl color flakes are broadcast into a wet basecoat at full reject (covering 100 percent of the floor surface), then sealed under a clear topcoat. The result is a textured, slip-resistant finish that hides minor imperfections, masks future wear, and looks great year after year.
The system handles abrasion, impact, and chemical exposure better than a solid-color epoxy because the topcoat is doing the wear work, not the colored basecoat. When a flake floor scratches, the scratches blend into the chip pattern instead of standing out as a contrasting line. That’s why flake is the go-to for garages, mechanical bays, retail, and any space where the floor will see daily traffic. Steadfast offers flake in dozens of pre-blended color options plus custom blends.
Common Flake Epoxy Applications
Steadfast installs flake epoxy systems across the Permian Basin and broader West Texas. Common applications include the following, but the right system depends on the specific environment, traffic load, and any chemical or impact exposure.
Residential Garages
The most-requested residential service we offer. Hides oil drips, tire tracks, and seasonal wear better than any other system.
Mechanical Bays
Auto repair shops, fleet maintenance, and oil-field shop floors where impact and chemical exposure are constant.
Retail & Showroom
Stores and showrooms wanting a textured visual without going to full metallic decorative.
Restaurants & Kitchens
Slip-resistant flake systems with sanitary topcoats for back-of-house and dining-room applications.
Locker Rooms & Wet Areas
Gyms, hotels, and pool areas needing slip resistance plus easy cleaning.
Commercial Restrooms
High-traffic public restrooms where the floor needs to handle moisture, foot traffic, and constant cleaning.

Three Things That Set This Install Apart
Slip Resistance Built In
The chip texture creates an inherently slip-resistant surface, no separate anti-slip additive required. Important for garages, kitchens, and any wet-prone area.
Color Blends For Any Aesthetic
Dozens of stock blends from earth tones to high-contrast brights. We bring sample boards to every estimate so you can see chips at scale, not just on a screen.
Hides Wear And Imperfections
When a flake floor scratches or wears, the damage blends into the chip pattern. Solid-color systems show every mark. Flake masks the day-to-day reality of how floors actually get used.

Flake Epoxy Common Questions
How long does a flake epoxy garage take to install?
Most residential garage installs take 2 to 3 days. Day one: grind, prep, basecoat, full chip broadcast, scrape excess. Day two: topcoat. Foot traffic at 24 hours, vehicle at 48 to 72 hours. We give you exact dates in the written quote.
Can I customize the flake color blend?
Yes. We carry dozens of pre-blended color options and can also custom-blend chips on site if you want a specific look. Bring color references during the estimate, paint chips, fabric, photos, and we’ll match a blend to your space.
How does flake compare to a solid-color epoxy?
Flake is more durable visually because the chip texture hides minor wear, scratches, and dirt that would show on a solid-color floor. It also costs slightly more (about 15 to 25 percent) due to the chip material and labor. Most customers who see both choose flake.
Is flake epoxy easy to clean?
Yes. The clear polyaspartic topcoat makes the surface easy to mop, sweep, or pressure-wash. Oil drips, tire marks, and standard garage debris come off without specialty cleaners. The texture from the chips is fine enough that dirt doesn’t get trapped.
What’s the warranty on a flake garage floor?
Residential flake garage installs carry our 15-year warranty. The warranty covers adhesion and workmanship. As long as the prep was done correctly (which we control) the system holds up for the life of the warranty.
Can flake epoxy be installed over an existing coating?
Sometimes. We need to evaluate the existing coating to determine adhesion. In most cases we mechanically grind to remove the old coating because that gives us a fresh concrete profile to bond into. Going over an existing coating without prep is the most common reason failed coatings come back delaminated.
