Anti-Slip Safety Coatings For Commercial Floors

OSHA-compliant slip-resistant coatings for shops, mechanical areas, ramps, kitchens, and any environment where wet-floor risk is a real liability. Engineered for COF compliance, ADA-accessible where required.

About Anti-Slip Coatings

What Is Anti-Slip Coatings?

Anti-slip coatings are an engineered system, not a generic add-on. The slip resistance comes from a calibrated aggregate broadcast into the topcoat (typically aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, or polymer beads at controlled grit sizes) sized for the specific environment and traffic type. Get the grit too coarse and the floor is hard to clean and uncomfortable to walk on. Get it too fine and the slip resistance is inadequate. Steadfast specs the right grit, the right base coating, and the right topcoat layer for each application.

Standard applications include mechanical bay ramps, commercial kitchen lines, locker room walkways, food processing wash-down areas, and any commercial space with documented slip-fall liability exposure. We can install anti-slip as a topcoat over an existing epoxy floor, or as part of a full new install. ADA-compliant slope and texture standards available for facilities under accessibility requirements.

Where It Fits

Common Anti-Slip Coatings Applications

Steadfast installs anti-slip coating systems across the Permian Basin and broader West Texas. Common applications include the following, but the right system depends on the specific environment, traffic load, and any chemical or impact exposure.

Mechanical Bay Ramps

Auto repair, fleet maintenance, and oil-field shops with sloped entries needing OSHA-compliant traction.

Commercial Kitchen Lines

Restaurant cook lines, prep areas, and dish pits with constant grease and water exposure.

Pool Decks & Wet Areas

Public and commercial pool areas, splash pads, and locker room wet zones.

Food Processing Wash-Down

Production floors with steam cleaning, food-grade chemical wash-down, and sanitary requirements.

Loading Docks & Truck Bays

Outdoor and partially-covered loading areas with weather exposure and forklift traffic.

ADA-Accessible Entries

Building entrances and accessible routes requiring documented slip-resistance and slope compliance.

Why Steadfast For Anti-Slip Coatings

Three Things That Set This Install Apart

01

Calibrated Grit Per Application

We don’t use a one-size-fits-all anti-slip aggregate. Mechanical bays need a different grit than kitchens, which need a different grit than pool decks. We spec the grit based on traffic, cleaning frequency, and footwear.

02

OSHA & ADA Compliant Where Required

For facilities under documented compliance requirements, we install systems that meet or exceed the applicable COF (coefficient of friction) and slope standards. Documentation provided for compliance records.

03

Easy To Clean Despite Texture

Spec the right aggregate and the floor stays cleanable. We pick aggregates that round off slightly under cleaning so commercial mopping and pressure washing handle daily maintenance without specialty equipment.

FAQ

Anti-Slip Coatings Common Questions

Do anti-slip coatings really work?

When specified and installed correctly, yes. The COF (coefficient of friction) on a properly-installed anti-slip system runs 0.6 or higher wet, well above the OSHA recommended 0.5 minimum for walking surfaces. Bad anti-slip happens when the grit is too coarse, too fine, or applied unevenly.

Can anti-slip be added to my existing floor?

Often yes. We can apply an anti-slip topcoat over an existing epoxy or polyaspartic floor as long as the existing coating is in good condition (no delamination, no contamination). The existing surface gets a light scuff-sand to ensure topcoat adhesion before the anti-slip layer goes down.

Does anti-slip make the floor harder to clean?

It depends on the grit. Aggressive anti-slip systems (mechanical bay ramps, exterior loading docks) need pressure-washing for proper cleaning. Lighter anti-slip systems (kitchens, locker rooms) can be mopped just like a smooth floor. We size the grit to match your cleaning capability.

What’s the difference between anti-slip aggregate and a textured topcoat?

Anti-slip aggregate is a separate granular material broadcast into the wet topcoat. Textured topcoats are coatings with built-in profile (orange-peel, etc) that don’t add aggregate. Aggregate provides better wet-COF performance; textured topcoats are easier to clean but offer less wet-traction.

Are anti-slip coatings ADA-compliant?

Specific systems can meet ADA accessibility requirements for COF and slope. We verify the spec against your project’s compliance requirements and provide documentation for facility records. Worth checking your accessibility requirements before we spec the system.

How long does an anti-slip coating last?

Lifespan depends on traffic and cleaning. Mechanical bay ramps in heavy use last 3 to 5 years before the topcoat needs reapplication. Kitchens with light wet exposure last 5 to 8 years. We recommend an annual inspection on high-use anti-slip floors to catch wear early.
