Residential Coatings — Common Questions

What homeowners ask before booking the estimate. View our gallery for installed work, or reach us via the contact page.

How long does a residential garage floor coating take?
Most residential garages are a one to two day job. Day one is full mechanical grind, crack and pit repair, and basecoat. Day two is broadcast (flake or quartz) and topcoat. You can drive on it in 24 hours, parking heavy vehicles after 72 hours. Polyaspartic systems can compress this to a single-day install.
What’s the warranty on a residential garage floor?
Residential garage epoxy and flake systems carry our 15-year warranty against delamination, peeling, and bonding failure. The warranty is written, transferable to the next homeowner, and covers labor plus material if the coating fails due to bond loss.
Will the floor handle hot tires from my car or truck?
Yes, when prepped correctly. Hot-tire pickup is a failure of bond, not coating. Every residential install gets a full mechanical grind to open the concrete pores, which lets the basecoat penetrate and lock in. We’ve never had a hot-tire callback on a properly prepped Steadfast floor.
Can you coat a driveway in West Texas heat?
Yes, with the right system. Standard epoxy struggles in 100°F+ direct sun. We use polyaspartic on driveways and outdoor patios, which is UV-stable, cures fast even at peak heat, and resists yellowing. We schedule outdoor work for early morning starts to keep slab temperature in spec.
How much does a residential garage floor cost?
A standard two-car garage runs $2,400 to $4,800 depending on system selected and slab condition. Flake systems are typically $4 to $7 per square foot. Metallic decorative pours run $7 to $11. Polyaspartic single-day systems are $6 to $9. All pricing is itemized in the written quote, no surprise charges.
Will the coating peel like the home-improvement store kits?
No. Big-box DIY kits skip the prep, which is 80% of the work. We grind the slab to a CSP-2 or CSP-3 profile, etch out oil staining, and repair every crack and pit before the first coat goes down. Bond failure is impossible when the prep is done right.
Can you match a specific color or style?
Yes. We carry every standard flake color from manufacturers like Torginol and Color Flakes, plus metallic pigments in dozens of marbled patterns. We can match brand colors, garage decor, or just bring you a sample board. Color decisions happen at the estimate, not over text.
